Regardless Of What Liberals Say, Jesus Rose From The Grave!

    Published: Friday, April 18, 2003

If today's editorial sounds like a sermon, so be it. After all, it is Good Friday.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead sets Him apart from all self-proclaimed saviors and messiahs. Furthermore, Christ's empty tomb sets Christianity apart from the religions of the world. Only Christians celebrate an empty grave!

Throughout the centuries, skeptics and cynics have tried unsuccessfully to dispel the veracity of Christ's resurrection. However, the testimony of the Scriptures is impeccable!

Moreover, it is the rejection of Christ's resurrection that spawns much, if not most, of modern-day liberalism. For example, the theory of evolution is due mainly to men's rejection of Biblical truth, especially the truth of Christ's resurrection.

If Jesus really rose from the dead as the Scriptures state, men must meet Him one day in judgment. If the Bible is accurate regarding the resurrection, it must be accurate regarding creation. If it is accurate regarding creation, it must be accurate regarding future judgment. In other words, the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the cornerstone of Christianity. Therefore, to discredit the Scriptures, liberals attack the resurrection.

The bottom line is, men are looking for a reason to not be held accountable for their conduct. If there is no absolute truth, there can be no absolute standard of righteousness by which men are judged. In short, everyone may do what he or she feels is right.

If Jesus rose from the dead, He must be God, for only God could raise Himself from the grave! If Jesus is God, everything He said of judgment and hell are true. Men are accountable for their conduct, and there is a future judgment! Such thinking is anathema to liberals.

Liberals love to tout tolerance and diversity as central Christian doctrines. Actually, just the opposite is true. Jesus taught us that He alone is the way to the Father. He said plainly, "No man cometh unto the Father but by me." (John 14:6) His resurrection proves this pronouncement.
