Alabama Chief Justice Roy S. Moore will be the featured speaker during the 10th Annual God and Country Day celebration at the Crossroad Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida, Sunday, November 2, at 10:00 am CST. The church is located at 6800 Mobile Highway.
Chief Justice Moore, also known as "The Ten Commandments Judge," has gained national recognition for his courageous defense of the Ten Commandments in the face of career-threatening opposition, and for the case, "Can The State Acknowledge God?" which is still pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.
A West Point graduate, Moore served our country as a U.S. Army Company Commander in Vietnam before earning a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama Law School. He is a highly respected Constitutional scholar and has served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama since 2001.
Chief Justice Moore is a tireless defender of individual liberties and was honored by at least three states and dozens of civic organizations (these include "Christian Statesman of the Year" award, "Bill of Rights" award, and the "God and Country" award.) Moore was thrust into the national spotlight in 1997 when he held his ground against a court order demanding that he remove a tablet of the Ten Commandments, which he had carved by hand and hung on the wall alongside his court bench in Etowah County, Alabama. Judge Moore has courageously and continuously stood against constant pressure from those who brazenly reject the Ten Commandments as the moral foundation of our legal system.
