Those who have read my essays over the years know that I am a Catholic who holds great respect for evangelical Christians. We have cooperated in the prolife movement and conservative politics for nearly fifty years, and while we seldom discuss our theological differences, we all have come to tolerate them in the face of a demonic secular culture. I write this essay so that we can come to understand each other as we witness a transitional realignment that is underway, and right now, before our eyes.
When Pope Francis died, I wrote essays that explained why the entire world is always interested in who the next pope will be, denominational differences aside. When Pope Leo was elected, I was teaching a home school class in a coffee shop community room, and a local evangelical pastor came in to watch. He knew what was at stake.
We are watching the hierarchy of the Catholic Church continuing down the path towards error. After initial symbolic signs of hope that Pope Leo was going to softly and gently correct the errors of Francis, the past few months have been terrible. It is stupid to pretend not to see it. He has welcomed LGBTQ “pilgrims” through the Jubilee Doors of St. Peter’s, made shockingly bad appointments of bishops who openly adhere to the Democratic Party’s values, permitted rock concerts in St. Peter’s Square, and welcomed the point man for homosexuality, Fr. James Martin, into private conferences.
Some bishops worldwide have publicly told Leo that he must repudiate the most equivocal statement he recently made, something as dangerous as anything Francis said: “We have to change attitudes before we ever change dogma.”
No doubt more bishops would join them, but they fear being “stricklandized”, going the way of Bishop Strickland of Texas, who dared to act and speak in a courageous way, and was stripped of his authority by Cardinal Prevost himself. Faithful Catholics had hoped he was merely acting in obedience to Francis, but it appears that he is part and parcel of the Vatican’s heretical inner circle, and is why he was elected.
How this happened has been explained. All anyone needs to do is investigate Bella Dodd, a repentant communist agent who explained to a Congressional committee, how she followed Stalin’s orders to infiltrate Catholicism with homosexuals, Freemasons and communists by entering the seminaries, back in the 1940s and 50s. She placed 1100 herself into them.
But the church hierarchy is not the Catholic Church. They can cause a lot of confusion and disruption, but the Church stands upon its unchanging dogma. Millions are pouring into the Church, nationwide and worldwide. The Protestant “mainline” churches continue to shrivel into irrelevance. Somehow, someway, the new converts --- and it certainly appears as if Charlie Kirk was heading that way --- can see that difference.
But the unity of evangelicals is also being attacked by demonic forces, and the so-called “Scofield Bible” is finally being reviewed as possibly in error. It is causing political upheaval in evangelicalism, led by a former “Christian dispensationalist” pastor and 2008 Constitution Party presidential candidate, Chuck Baldwin.
Incredibly, this version of Christian interpretation has been responsible for conservative cooperation with the otherwise detested neo-con war mongers, who have controlled U.S. foreign policy since FDR. It has taken the scorched-earth policies of the Israeli state’s genocide in Gaza to get evangelicals to re-think what blind support of Israel means. It has fractured the MAGA coalition.
And, as is widely reported, Charlie Kirk himself was re-thinking his devotion to this policy. He lamented that his Zionist financial supporters were withdrawing from TP/USA. Pat Buchanan, Joe Sobran, Ron Paul, Thomas Massie, Tucker Carlson have all questioned why America’s destiny must be linked to the Israeli state.
It is one thing to recognize Jews as fellow human beings, deserving of human dignity against the centuries of abuse they have suffered. But then, so are Palestinians.
But it is another thing to be linked to a godless, pro-legal-abortion Israeli government, which is influenced by ultra-radical Jews who truly believe that all Moslems and Christians must be expelled from the Holy Land. Ask them: they believe that Jesus was a demonically possessed false prophet, completely deserved to be crucified, and that Jews alone remain the only people who can achieve salvation.
When Tucker Carlson compared Kirk’s martyrdom to Jesus at his funeral, and without ever mentioning Jews, Israel or even Pharisees and Sadducees, he was immediately denounced by the shop-word accusation of “Anti Semite!” Zionists, who carry a large chip on their shoulders, are turning a blind eye to the fact that the Pharisees were merely representative of all of humanity. They were joined by the Romans and a mob of people, who also called for the execution of Christ. Thus, all elements of society shared in the guilt: religious, secular and popular. Yet Jesus forgave them all from the Cross.
It has been an article of faith for all Christians that we accept Paul’s statement in Ephesians:
And this is God’s plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News are co-heirs to the riches inherited by God’s children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus.
You’ll notice that Paul said it would be the Jews who accepted the Gospel, not the Establishment Jews, who would be “the New Israel” with the Gentiles. Just as Christ predicted, the sacred temple would be destroyed within one generation. Three centuries later, when a Roman emperor tried to rebuild it, simply to prove that Christ was a false prophet, read what happened here: https://www.fisheaters.com/juliantemple.html.
It is painful to let go of error. No one needs to have it pointed out that the Israeli government has not accepted the Gospel of Jesus. At Jacob’s well, Jesus told the Samaritan woman, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.”
The Catholic hierarchy has been polluted, with only a few thin, reedy voices calling out their errors. Dispensationalist Christians will also have to think for themselves, as they hopefully listen to the voices calling them to stop supporting the monstrous events in Gaza, to abandon the political influence they have given to the Israeli state in American politics, to defend Palestinian Christians, and to convert Jews and the whole world, to the one who said, “All those who follow truth hear my voice.”
