    The Naked President

    Published: Friday, August 25, 2006

I well remember back in the 2000 elections many conservatives (especially conservative Christians) attempting to assuage my trepidation and misgiving regarding then candidate George W. Bush by saying, "Chuck, don't worry; Bush cannot act like a conservative, because he wouldn't be able to get elected [Funny how it didn't stop Ronald Reagan!] if he did. But be assured that once he is elected, you will see his true conservatism."

Well, we waited and waddled through Dubya's first term in office, and there was precious little indication of his "true conservatism."

Then, those same conservatives said, "Chuck, don't worry; G.W. couldn't act like a conservative his first term, because he wouldn't be able to get re-elected. But be assured that once he is re-elected, you will see his true conservatism."

Now, nearly six years into Bush's presidency, I'm still waiting to see his "true conservatism."

The truth is, George W. Bush has never been a conservative, and those who said (or say) he was (or is) are either woefully naïve or are deliberately lying. In fact, the anti-conservative policies of President Bush are so numerous they are extremely difficult to keep track of.

Note: I have chronicled much information regarding the true Bush record for anyone willing to look at it. Go to: http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/bushrecord.html

Just recently, our "conservative" President expressed his support for the over-the-counter sales of the so-called "Plan B" (and his Food and Drug Administration just approved it), which is much more than a contraceptive. As I have documented before in this column, Plan B actually terminates an early pregnancy by preventing the fertilized egg from attaching itself to the wall of the fallopian tube, thereby killing a newly conceived baby.

Secondly, this "conservative" President recently signed into law the Federal Pension Protection Act that greatly benefits same-sex couples-a decision that is being highly lauded by feminist groups around the country.

If that isn't enough, last April the Bush administration entered into an agreement with then-Crown Prince Abdullah that allows Saudis to receive scholarships to study (can you believe it?) aviation in the United States!

Yet, it gets worse. The Bush administration recently announced plans to sell $4.6 billion worth of arms to Arab countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, and Oman.

Of course, it has been this "conservative" President's dismal policies that have served to facilitate and even encourage the hordes of illegal aliens that are pouring over our southern border. The result of Bush madness regarding the illegal alien problem can be easily seen by the fact that nearly half of all illegal aliens in this country have arrived since Bush became President in 2000.

Furthermore, this "conservative" President has committed the United States to a trilateral, hemispheric governing entity called The North American Union that virtually erases the borders between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. In addition, his plans for a NAFTA super-highway are already well underway. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that President Bush's policies are facilitating the "reconquista" of the Southwestern U.S. and the collapse of America's sovereignty as we understood it.

Please, remember, too, that we have not even here addressed President Bush's absolutely dismal decision to invade Iraq resulting in a host of national and international problems that portend a very ominous outlook for America's overall peace and security.

And speaking of security, neither have we discussed the Orwellian policies of this President that are quickly eradicating constitutional government, replacing it with an emerging police state.

It is no hyperbole to state that President George W. Bush is managing the fall of the American republic!

For anyone with eyes to see, G.W. Bush stands before us without the wool façade of conservatism, but as a naked and unmasked neocon. I'm not sure if America will ever recover. As for conservatism as a major political force, Bush has already killed it!
