Once again, actor-director Mel Gibson is showing courage and commitment rarely seen in Hollywood. He is currently working on a movie about the sufferings and sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. The movie is called "The Passion" and is said to be a realistic and reverential depiction of Christ's redemptive work on the cross. Predictably, Gibson is taking much criticism for the picture.
World Net Daily quotes Gibson as saying, "Whenever you take up a subject like this it does bring out a lot of enemies." WND reports, "[Gibson's] private life, his banking records, charities he supports, friends, business associates and family members have all undergone scrutiny in this investigation."
WND also quoted Gibson as saying, "This is a movie about love, faith, hope and forgiveness. [Jesus] died for all mankind. He suffered for all of us. It's time to get back to that basic message. The world has gone nuts. We could use a little more love, faith, hope and forgiveness."
This isn't the first time that Mel Gibson has been attacked by the thought police within Hollywood and the media. His blockbuster movie "Braveheart" angered homosexuals when the picture depicted England's King Longshanks throwing an obviously effeminate "friend" of his son out an upper window of his castle. Homosexuals clamored for Gibson to apologize. He never did.
Gibson also rankled the Hollywood elite with his picture "The Patriot." This politically incorrect movie showed young boys, some even younger than twelve, shooting British soldiers in America's War For Independence. Gun grabbers went nuts, but once again, Gibson didn't back down.
Now, Mel Gibson is under fire for his positive portrayal of the sufferings and death of the Savior. However, don't expect Gibson to retreat. He shows more raw courage than most so-called preachers and conservative leaders.

There is another blockbuster movie scheduled to be released soon called "Gods And Generals." From all the reviews I have read, this movie is going to be one that you don't want to miss. It has the potential to forever change the attitudes and perceptions of people regarding the old Confederacy. It depicts the life and battles of General Thomas J. (Stonewall) Jackson. Ron Maxwell is the film's producer and Stephen Lang plays Jackson. I will write more about this film later.
When Jesus' disciples hollered out praises upon His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, many critics demanded that He silence them. Jesus replied that should they remain mute, the rocks and stones would cry out.
Could it be that since today's preachers and conservative leaders refuse to stand up for politically incorrect principles that God is using people such as Mel Gibson and Ron Maxwell to get the job done? It would certainly seem so.
