Today Jefferson Davis; Tomorrow Thomas Jefferson

All over the United States, memorials and statues of the great men of the Confederacy--along with the flags of the Confederacy--have either already been taken down or efforts are underway to take them down. I’m talking about places such as Biloxi, Mississippi; Charlottesville, Virginia; Austin, Texas; Louisville, Kentucky; Charleston, South Carolina; St. Louis, Missouri; Baltimore, Maryland; Orlando, Florida; and Memphis, Tennessee. The city of New Orleans, Louisiana, has taken down the statues of President Jefferson Davis and General P.G.T. Beauregard. The Jefferson Davis statue had stood since 1911. General Beauregard’...

Donald Trump’s Executive Order Regarding The Johnson Amendment

Last Thursday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order (EO) that ostensibly relaxes enforcement of the Johnson Amendment--a 1954 amendment to the 501c3 Internal Revenue Code (IRC) that places churches under the regulations of non-profit organizations, thereby restricting their political speech and activity. For over sixty years, pastors and churches have labored under the threat of the loss of tax exemption should they run afoul of the 501c3 tax law. Trump said his EO is designed to give pastors and churches more liberty to exercise their freedom of speech without risking the wrath of the IRS. Obviously, it would take congr...

    Strictly Personal

Yesterday, May 3, was my 65th birthday. Accordingly, it is time for my annual “Strictly Personal” column. I think it only fair that readers should have an opportunity to learn a little something about the person who writes the words they read. Today’s column is designed with that goal in mind. And since Charley Reese (one of my favorite columnists) stopped writing, I am the only national columnist that does this, as far as I know. So, here goes. I was born and raised in a small town in northern Indiana. My father and mother were dedicated Christians. Dad was a welder by trade and a member of the Teamsters union....

No Hope In Trump; No Hope In DC

At this point, people who are still holding out hope that Donald Trump is going to drain the swamp and save America are delusional. In less than 100 days, Trump has taken America to the precipice of World War III. He has filled his administration with Goldman Sachs banksters, CFR globalists, New World Order Zionists, and warmongers. Trump refuses to prosecute Hillary Clinton for egregious crimes against our country, but he is vowing to prosecute Julian Assange, a man whose “crime” is publishing the truth he receives from whistleblowers about the criminal conduct of the U.S. government. Plus, Assange isn’t even an A...

    Baptists And Muslims Are Uniting

One might be surprised to learn that hundreds of Christian organizations (including Baptist) are uniting with Muslims and Jews (and people from other pagan religions). “What,” you ask, “could possibly unite such radically opposing faith systems?” The effort to convince the U.S. Congress to KEEP the Johnson Amendment, that’s what. The Johnson Amendment is the amendment that grafted churches into the infamous 501c3 non-profit organization status of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) back in 1954. The amendment is named after its author: then Senator Lyndon Baines Johnson (D-TX). Faithful followers of ...

Donald Trump: Just Another Neocon Warmonger

“Talk is cheap” is a phrase that politicians teach us constantly. This time the teacher is Donald Trump. Donald Trump campaigned as an outsider, someone that was not owned by the establishment, and someone who would fight the globalists and drain “the swamp.” But “talk is cheap.” In 2013, AFTER Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was accused of using sarin gas against his own countrymen, Trump tweeted, “What will we get for bombing Syria besides more debt and a possible long term conflict? Obama needs Congressional approval.” (August 29) And, “Obama’s war in Syria has the p...

An Open Letter To Kelleigh Nelson At News With Views

Kelleigh, Thank you very much for making me look good. I know that was not your intention. Your intention was to discredit, disparage, denigrate, and destroy me. But you actually did just the opposite. So, thank you. The title of your column, “News With Views Response To Pastor Chuck Baldwin’s Lies,” suggests you were not simply writing your own sentiments but were writing on behalf of Paul Walter and News With Views. So, I must assume that you are either paid staff or part of the management team. If so, I would think the honest thing to do would be to disclose this relationship. In the very first sentence...

This Is Not Going To End Well

People who voted for Donald Trump were voting for change. For that matter, that’s what the people who voted for Barack Obama were voting for in 2008. But Obama changed nothing, and it looks like Trump won’t either. At least not the things that really matter. Trump has appointed as many neocons, war hawks, and insiders to his administration as Barack Obama or G.W. Bush--maybe more. His promotion of Obamacare 2.0 was a total embarrassment to everything he campaigned for. He twisted the arms of House and Senate conservatives as much as Bush used to do--maybe more so. Thankfully, the House Freedom Caucus stood like Stonew...

What Would Patrick Henry Say Today?

On this day in 1775, Patrick Henry delivered the most famous speech ever given on American soil. It was his immortal “Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death” speech. He gave the speech to the Virginia House of Burgess in Richmond. The question before the delegation was whether the Colony of Virginia would join the fight for independence from Great Britain. Toward the beginning of his powerful presentation, Patrick Henry said, “Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren, till she transforms us int...

Will Donald Trump Let Paul Ryan Make Him A One-Term President?

From the beginning, there have been several things that have bothered me about Donald Trump. Perhaps my biggest concerns have always been how genuine Trump is and, if he is genuine, how much he truly understands about “the swamp” he promised to drain. President Trump has appointed numerous big-government, pro-war neocons to his administration. In just two months, Trump has appointed more individual members from the CFR--and people from corporations belonging to the CFR--to his administration than Barack Obama did during his entire eight years in the White House. That is very troubling. The CFR is perhaps the preeminen...
